The program "Retreat with master plants" is a shamanic retreat using traditional Amazonian methods. It is a journey of self-exploration, healing and discovery that brings greater self-awareness. Shamanic tourism is important in Peru. Several anthropologists say that this trend has to do with the beginning of a "new consciousness". Carlos Martinez Sarasola, anthropologist, explains: "There came a time when the West was interested in Eastern wisdom. Currently, the gaze is also turned to America, the indigenous culture and its vision of the spiritual world".
The 8 day retreat, also referred to as "diet", includes 3 ayahuasca ceremonies.
The 10 day retreat option includes 4 ayahuasca ceremonies. Ayahuasca is also referred to as a purge (inducing vomiting for many) that cleans, frees and heals the body, heart and mind. It is a concoction that shamans prepare from a vine that grows in the jungle called Ayahuasca (Banisteriopsis Caapi) which is mixed with the leaf of the Chacruna plant (Psychotria Viridis). The concoction is 100% natural.
Ayahuasca is known as the mother plant of the jungle. It has a strong and powerful energy. Each ceremony is a unique experience. The visualization process has the effect of allowing a person to heal spiritually, psychologically, emotionally and physically.
Ayahuasca ceremonies are held in a sacred circle formed of people who participate in the diet. These traditional ceremonies, which take place after dark, are held in silence. The shaman leads the ceremony and sings curative chants ("icaros" which function as mantras) that bring the awareness of all participants to one point, thus influencing the energy. Therefore, the group starts to vibrate "at the same frequency" to achieve a mystical experience.
In Peru, ayahuasca is considered traditional medicine and part of the cultural heritage of the nation. This ancestral preparation of ayahuasca contains a powerful psychoactive and visionary substance called Dimethyltryptamine (DMT). While synthetic DMT is a controlled substance in many countries, ayahuasca contains no synthetic DMT and does not consist only of DMT. DMT is present in all living beings, including humans. It is a natural substance secreted by the brain when we dream or when in deep states of meditation. During ayahuasca ceremonies, the pineal gland associated with the third eye and intuition is activated.
The ritual of the ceremonies is very important, hence the importance of finding an experienced shaman and being in a safe and peaceful place. This is serious work to be done in the jungle listening to the hymns ("icaros") of the shaman.
